Weekend Update

I finally cashed in my ProSports Club Prenatal Massage! It was amazing! Thanks Jen, Sara, & Linds! What a delight! I'm feeling much more relaxed and less sore... The Club is really nice, especially the Spa, complementary Women's Lounge, and Women's Locker Room equipped with hot tubs, sauna, steam room, tons of showers, tons of space to get ready, and Pureology hair care products!!! Yummy! I have to say that I should have done this a long time ago. I'm not kidding. New Goal - before we try for our second baby - I want to save up a for massage fund - enough for about 10 massages - and here's how I'd break it up: Two massages toward the end of the first trimester, at about 12 weeks, then 3 massages for the second trimester and 4 for the third trimester. I only had two professional massages this pregnancy - totally should have done more.

The ProSports Club is spendy, so I recommend splurging on one ProSport massage experience and bringing a friend to share it with. Then, for the other 9 massages, find someone/place that's more affordable. Reason being, you're going to want to spend some of your cash on maternity clothes if you're anything like me. You want to feel like yourself even with a bump. Remember, the bump is beautiful, so don't hide it, show it off! Plus, there are so many cute things out there...styles, colors, and fits. Contact me - I'll help you find the right things that fit your body and style...Anyway - tangent. To sum up, massages are great for the sore muscles, tension, and water retention especially in the late third trimester. But seriously, don't just say, oh yeah, massages sound pretty good, really plan ahead and do it. Trust me, you will thank yourself!

I do have to say, really quick, before I go on - bless my husband's heart for giving it his all to help me feel comfortable during this pregnancy - it hasn't been easy, but he has done an amazing job.  Truth be known, supporting a pregnant woman is definitely more than a one man/woman job, and anything that can be done to supplement your spouse/partner will be very much appreciated by them. Also, they like to be taken care of too - the best way to get your lovey to massage you is to offer to massage him first! You can even surprise him with a professional massage for being so helpful!

Pregnancy update: Thursday night was a nice little practice round of about 4 hours of contractions - mostly intense tightening all over about every 10 minutes. I had a pounding headache from the neck pain I acquired from a restless night the night prior - so while the contractions weren't so tough, the headache made them harder to deal with. Scott massaged me for about an hour, then I hopped in an Epsom salt bath, laid down for a while, and worked on breathing and relaxing, although I couldn't sleep because my headache wouldn't go away - finally, I just had to take a Tylenol - my first Tylenol this entire pregnancy - after about 10 minutes my headache was gone and actually my contractions stopped. False alarm! Good thing too, because Scotty still had a few projects to take care of in Violet's room. We framed some of Scott's abstract paintings from his early years - probably from when he was about 3 years old - so cute. We had a few other things to do including adding some shelving into the closet for storage and hanging all of those cute little dresses Violet received from all her friends and family!! :) Her room is almost done thanks to my mom and dad getting all the furniture and bedding and Scotty's mom & dad getting the mattress!! The bassinet is ready too - sooooo cute with the pink sheet, white ruffle, pink bow, and pink soothing teddy bear - thanks Linds.

Aside from Violet kicking and moving around, no more contractions for now! We're all doing well, and awaiting her arrival! :)

40 Weeks

Well, we're almost here! If everyone thinks really hard and wishes for Violet to come tonight, then maybe she will!!! :) Ready, set, go! I am thankful for the sunshine today - I will certainly get outside and walk a bit. Maybe to Famous Footwear to get a pair of Fit Flops for my poor feet! Actually, looking better than a few days ago. Thanks for the prayers. We've got a couple more projects left to do, Scotty's almost done with the artwork in Violet's room, and the rest of my storage baskets are on their way - I can finally finish organizing which everyone knows I love to do! Scotty put up a beautiful shelving/clothes hanging unit in her closet, I'm tempted to do the same for our bedroom! Photos coming soon!

Lean On Your Friends and Family

I can't begin to tell you how amazing and comforting it is to have people you trust look after your little one!! Grandparents are in general safer drivers, more attentive, almost to the point of overstimulating, but always aware more than most parents!! So lean on them when you can. The relationship they build with your baby/child is irreplaceable! And if a friend offers to watch your little shnookums, drop her off every once and a while and do something nice for yourself, like a hair cut, massage, or even a nap! And finally, did you know that there are great, affordable daycares at gyms!! Gold's has a saline pool, family swim times, a cardio theater, and steam room and sauna!! The teachers at the kids klub there are great, use them!! They are a god send! Hope you're enjoying the sunshine today!! And thank you to everyone who's been there for us!! We're here for you too!

Approaching 2

This girl is amazing. I am so thankful every day I wake up and see her beautiful face. Violet is full of joy, humor, and love. She knows what she wants and knows how to ask for it, most of the time in a very polite manner. I don't know what I did to deserve such a perfect daughter. Somebody's smiling down on me that's for sure. Obviously, it goes without saying that her family and friends have been so supportive and loving and kind to my Violet. She is truly a very lucky little girl and I am lucky to be her mom.   Where does the time go? It was just yesterday I was sitting nursing her, well, actually it was this morning...but you get what I'm saying. Where does the time go? They are so tiny and yet so full of life when they are born. From the time they first open their eyes and sneeze to when they beging holding their heads up and laughing for the first time, to sitting up and crawling. The way they try so hard to go, move, explore, live. Every day more ...
